There are also purple carrots, I have grown them in my square foot front garden but I can't remember what they were called sorry.

I grew purple spuds (salad blue) last year too. They kept their colour when roasted, chipped or crisped (try serving red, white and blue (purple) crisps for something really patriotic!).

I found that the colour went 'muddier' when boiled or mashed, but came back again when the boiled potatoes went cold. They looked really great in salads and made a great contrast with carrots (the ordinary orange kind).

Has someone mentioned purple mangetout peas yet?

I've bought some pink tomato seeds recently, and could really come around to the idea of having JUST pink veg ...

Quite agree Ice, but I really do like purple climbing french beans as theye're far easier to see when picking.

I grew yellow (YELLOW YELLOW YELLOW - I'm going to hijack this thread with YELLOW!!!) mangetout peas for this reason, but didn't think much of the flavour, so maybe purple for me next year.
