i want to grow big carrots,will they grow on there side in a plastic drain pipe???

No - because the tops grow up in search of light and the roots grow down in search of water etc. Try growing in tubs / barrels. PS I checked to see whether it was April 1st :lol:

... and remember to prepare the soil underneath the end of the drainpipe too.   There is no reason that they won't keep going down if they find favourable conditions.
