A friend has reported that she has blight on her potatoes!!!!

We are in Gwynedd.

I'm keeping a close eye too. I'm in Wrexham and it's been lashing it down for a good portion of most days  .

Hope yours stays blight-free and we get some better weather soon.

Lots of plots at the top end of our site have it but mine still look OK.   Am I gauranteed to get it eventually or could I get away with it.  I sprayed with Dithane a few days ago.  This is my first year growing potatoes on an allotment so i'm not sure what to expect.

According to the potato council website there a lot of outbreaks near Shrewsbury which is not far away.

Dithane protects against blight but does not kill it. When eventually you get infections it is best to cut off the tops as the crop should have made reasonable bulk by now. Better sooner than later. Do not lift for about 10 days or you may spread spores from the soil surface on to your potatoes.
