i'am a veg man, it's my Mr's that wants advice on when is the best time to split ferns.
They've taken over in the garden, does she have to wait while they die back or can you do it any time

I think you're meant to wait until they die back, but I have split them in spring and seen no ill effects whatsoever. They're pretty hardy.

Where are you? If you are getting rid of a few I would happily take some!  :) :D

Thanks alot scabs,i'am from Barnsley s/yorks your nick name would'nt go down vary well in this part of the world. i've got 2 veg allotments and my Mr's as a wild life 1 with a pond in thats were she is going to move the fearns.
