They say bad luck comes in threes
« on: July 27, 2009, 14:42 »
After Mr Fox's visit a few weeks ago which finished off about 40 chickens, and then a nasty case of infectious bronchitis (which luckily only claimed one victim) I'm pretty sure I now have chicks with coccidiosis.  Great.  And I have been so careful  :(

I consulted these pages for symptoms and treatment and I just have to say thanks to everyone for the advice - it is invaluable.

Chicks currently getting ACV in water pending arrival of the medicine and some unmedicated feed to prevent double dosing.  All on fresh shavings and in re-disinfected runs.  They are looking really unhappy and have blood in their poos but I have my fingers crossed for a good recovery.

Can anyone advise how long they should be on the treatment please?  I am going away next week and need to get an idea of what instructions to leave my Mum and Dad as they are chook and house sitting.

Just read the instructions on my bottle of coxoid and it says treat for 7 days and in the case of a serious outbreak then follow with another 7 days at half strength. Hope they recover ok, joyfullxx

I am sorry but until you can tell us what you are treating them with then I would not know how long they should be on the treatment.
The information you require should be on the label of the product you are using.
If you know the product you have ordered try the manufactures website.
