New potatoes
« on: July 16, 2009, 13:28 »
Hi all,
simple question but I am unsure,I am in the process of lifting and eating my new pots, which are just fab,but is it best to leave them on the ground and lift as and when I need them or do I need to loft them all now and store?if so what is the best way of storing them please?

Many thanks as always

Kind regards Neil.
making the most of what good weather we get.

Hi
new potatoes don't store well so I generally leave them in the ground for as long as practical (or until they are all gone). trouble is, they are then more likely to get slug damaged  :(. If lifting, let them dry for an hour or so in the sun, brush off excess soil and store in hessian or brown paper sacks somewhere cool and dark. Main crop store very well this way.
There's more comfrey here than you can shake a stick at!
