OK- my freezer is almost full and I got more beetroot and carrots coming ...

What kind of sand do you use please? Builders? Shard sand? Silver sand? or doesn't it matter much?

I never store my carrots. They seem to be quite happy sitting in the ground over winter. There may be one or two losses, but it's less effort!

Any beetroot gets pickled.

I've also done a search on t'internet and I haven't seen anywhere that specified the type of sand, although I have read it needs to be slightly damp, and then somewhere else said it must be dry, so it's not just here where you get conflicting answers 

I haven't included any other links as they are predominantly from "other" growing websites and I'm not sure if that is frowned upon, but a quick google "how to store carrots" will get lots of answers.
