I have never experienced this, the only advice i can offer would be to firm the roots back in at ground level and perhaps try and stake them.I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will help soon.

It is my opinion that wind does far more damage than any of the other elements.

This morning I also tied up my sweetcorn which had taken a bit of a battering over night. To save on canes I put a short cane at each end and then tied a longer one horizontally between them which I then tied the sweetcorn to.

Yes, we've had wind which has flattened a load of my spuds & of course it had to be the main crop ones not the earlies which I'm starting to dig up anyway  ;)  But on the upside, my sweetcorn was ok last time I looked.  I'm not sure what direction the wind's coming from but maybe I need a barrier of some kind at the fron of the plot.
