Hi,
I have a Maran (Hybrid i think) and two Sussexs. I also have some chicks and i think there is a hen each of Lavender Araucana and speckled sussex.
If i get some eggs for my latest broody i am wondering what to get.
Requirement wise ...
I like eggs but if i am getting more chickens it could lay only 150.
Pretty colours - yes please it was the colour of the Lavenders and the blue eggs that attracted me there.
'Funky' looking - not sure about this. I think i prefer a chicken-looking chicken if you get my drift.  Though the silkies do have lovely feathers.
Should i think about bantams?

Welsummers lay gorgeous terracotta-brown eggs and are nice looking, traditional birds.

For something a bit different, what about a Red Jungle Fowl? The girls are very beautiful with fine pencilling on each feather.
