My veg garden - pic heavy
« on: July 03, 2009, 11:06 »
A work in progress - we only moved in in November last and had to build all the raised beds!  We planted as they were finished so a bit haphazard but every thing has done really really well.  Just made the mangetouts that escaped me into peapod and ham soup - yummy!!

Please don't comment on the weeds - I know they are there!

Pumpkins!  A new venture for me

Spuds and a munty - and a 40 year old galvanised bean frame in the background still going!

The long bed - it is about 100 foot  - I use a short moveable plank  to cross at strategic points!

The shorter bed (34') & the first one finished - the onions are mostly doing good - just about 5 seed heads! and they go right round the edge of the bed. Now to work out how to cook the broad beans!

The brassica cage - you cant quite see the molehills but the cat caught another last night. In the next year or two it is also the site for a  big polytunnel if we can get it level enough.  The cage is about 30 ft long though it doesnt look it in the pic ...

It's the highest part of the garden - we have just under 2 acres and are just loving it all!   Most is shrubs perennials and trees surrounded by grass - thank goodness for a ride on mower!  Damned hard work though ....  the chicken are in a big paddock just to the right of the raised bed section when the spuds are :)
