Prolonged molt and malise/mouth breathing
« on: June 26, 2009, 17:51 »
Just signed up and have a couple of questions.

1.  My hens went into molt last year and most have not recovered.
I have checked for mites and lice, dusted with DE numerous times of the birds and
     coop.
They have been wormed, protein (grain) has been added to the diet for feather
growth, anti pick lotion applied, hen saver aprons worn, electrolytes/calcium added,
     etc..
Egg production has also dropped in half.

     Any additional suggestions?

2.  6/25, I had one bird (not one going through the above) showing malise and mouth
breathing.  I have isolated her with water, feed and rooster booster pellets.
She is a little more energetic this AM but still weak.  She is breathing normally.

Anyone have experience in this line?

     Thanks,

     Egg Lady of Idaho
