Is this usual?

I have about 50 carrots of varying types, and one or two (next to each other) autumn king look like they are producing flowers? they havn't formed even a baby carrot yet.

Is this normal, last year i didn't have any problems at all.

I suppose anything is possible!  have they been short of water lately?

if they do flower then their flower should be an umbellifer; ie like an upside down umbrella, like cow parsley.  If AK isn't an F1 hybrid you could save the seed for next year!

quite the opposite, we have had plenty of rain.... althought maybe the dry spell followed by loads of rain bolted it?

Just hope the rest don't go that way!

just pull the bolting ones if you don't want them for seed which will give the rest some room

I may be corrected here but I think that if you have bolting carrots it is the fault of the seed producer.

Do not be tempted to save seed as this will only produce more bolting carrots.

maybe its just a few duff seeds then, they are form last year
