Blueberry bush new growth
« on: June 18, 2009, 13:36 »
Could someone offer advise on my Blueberry bushes? They have put out a thick new growth main stem from the very bottom. This is probably now about twice as high as the bush itself. I believe i should not prune this or pinch out the growing tip. Is that correct?? Help!!

Hi, mine did the same and I left it. It simply made the bush a bit bigger, natural growth. As they are not grafted it cannot be a sucker from the rootstock.

It is presently bearing fruit.

Yes they tend to do this , a bit like raspberry canes put new shoots out. Just enjoy the extra fruit!
