All that rain is making my lettuces go mungy.  The oldest ones anyway, good job I have loads.  Not had much of a slug problem before in the high rise but this year there are a few.  Might have been not helped by OH helpful filling top half of high rise bed with real soil from the garden, don't know if they live in the soil.  I now have a few not too many though weeds in it as well.

Ps Mungy is a general term isn't it or did I make that up.

Slugs have had some of mine as well Picked a red cos (they don't usually go for the red ones) and they'd had a nibble at every bleeping leaf from the outside right into the heart

Slice the little bl**ders in half i say.  Do thye make the lettuce go brown and yucky though or is that the rain and age do you reckon.

You know those lettuce I told you about that never do well,  when I emptied them out the soil had white mould on it.

They tend to rot off at the neck when it's very wet, which is then made worse by the slugs. Mine were a bit limp and gungy looking and when i tried to pull them the neck was just slime YUK. have to say that the cos lettuce seem to have coped better with all the rain than the loose hearted ones.
