Hi

Should I pinching tops from chillis and pumpkins.

Chillis are jalapeno and 8 inches hign in greenhouse.

Pumpkin is about a foot high with around 8 leaves.

Someone else will advise you about chillis, but as regards pupmkins, do NOT pinch the top out.

I assuming it's a trailing one and it will develop runners of it's own accord. These are what you should be thinking about pinching out, but not yet, only when the required number of fruit has set.

If the pumpkin is also in the greenhouse, I'd be thinking of hardening it off for outside planting.

No need to pinch out the chillis, while it will make them bush more it might also delay flowering so it's swings and roundabouts on whether it will boost yield. Plus most plants tend to bush of their own accord though not as much if you pinch out. If you have a number of plants you could try pinching out some as if we have the predicted hot sunny summer it should be a good year for chillis especially if we have an indian summer when any delay now will be made up for later in the year.

I've pinched out half of the chillis as branched plants have a bigger crop, but later. I kep tsome over from last year too, so want to have some really productive ones -- the others will, I hope, give earlier chillis... at leats that's the plan
