a little dwarf bean advice?
« on: June 02, 2009, 19:59 »
Hi everyone I planted my dwarf french beans out on Saturday (the hottest day of the year so far but my only free day!) as soon as they were sat in the hot sun they started to wilt. I panicked and covered them all with tarp which has been there since. I know I can't keep this on as it blocks out all the light but I'm worried if it comes off then I will lose my plants.
I can't find anything in my books that suggest they need shade. Can anyone help me out?
Huge thanks

I would guess they got a little shocked.  I would uncover them as it's going to be cooler tomorrow.  Did you water them well in?

also were your plants in individual pots of were they in a tray in which doing so you have had to tear at the roots?but plenty of water should do the trick, putting tarp over them will cook them even more i would have thought?

Oh!! I'd have thought the tarp would kill them in no time flat! Get it off. Keep well watered and nature should sort things out. I planted out lettuce in similar circumstances, and for a week they just lay flat on the ground. They perked up slowly, and are doing well......no losses. :)
