Giant Radish
« on: June 02, 2009, 12:06 »
A neighbour of mine went away and left some radish in there greenhouse, when they came back they had grown somewhat large. ???

The ones on the left didn't feel as if they had gone woody. There is a bottle stopper for comparison. :D

Has anyone else got any odd veg. :)

Overgrown radish can go spongy before it gets woody - do tell what it was like inside.

Actually you can get seed of giant radish 'Long white Icicle' or something similar
Playing all the right notes but not necessarily in the right order!

I sowed some T&M Rainbow radish mixed seeds - white, yellow and red radishes.  I'd never seen white or yellow ones before (although I have had Mooli).  The white ones took the roof of your mouth off, the red ones were 'normal' but so nice and the yellow ones were sweet, well relatively so compared to normal radish.

It's only my second year on the allotment, but eating home grown radish 30 seconds out of the soil have converted me to liking the things!

Every radish I have pulled has looked lovely, and every single radish I have cut into has had little maggot like things in them.

Very disappointing and no idea what they are.

Could be cabbage root fly as radishes are a brassica  :(
