Anybody had any success with this product?
« on: May 29, 2009, 08:14 »
It's organic slug pellets.

http://www.lakeland.co.uk/organic-slug-killer/F/productimage/51101?returnURL=/organic-slug-killer/F/product/51101?src=gpgarANDsq=organic+slug+killerANDsrc=gpgarANDsq=organic+slug+killer

I've treated my brassicas with this but I'm sure I can see fresh munch marks in the mornings. Maybe I should use more?

I use that and I think its great
you shouldnt put too much down though as with all slug pellets, too much confuses them (the slugs) and they wont eat it

just a few pellets around the base of each plant will do

I'm using this product as well & I think it does the trick. Easier than having to use the water solud alternative

Right, I thought it was actually a repellent. I didn't realise they ate the pellets. I take it they die from consumption then?

Yes they do eat the pellet, it stops them feeling hungry then they hide somewhere to die of starvation

Would they stop me feeling hungry if I ate one or two? I'd rather not crawl off & die though - just lose a pound or twenty !!! (Can't do smileys - I'm a technophobe)

slugs eat slug pellets ?

i went on a night time wrecky down my plot and thought you had to throw the pellets until the slugs sped away ,

i think the organic pellets are way too expensive ,

to me its war on slugs and snail and stuggies *(wood pigeons )

i love cutting the slugs in 1/2 , dropping a brick on a snail ,

and watching the magpies gang up on the wood pigeons

I do enjoy the old sport of flinging the snail over the fence & I'm quite good at it if I may say so myself! I got a direct it on the garage roof the other day :D

Anyway I'd rather pay a bit more & stay organic. Altogether the pellets last for a while anyway so it's still good value for money.

Trouble with throwing them over the fence, is......they come right back...they're like homing pigeons >:(

Or into the pond... ;)

I've got those pellets, but like has already been said you need to use them sparingly. I was getting stuff nibbled in my plastic greenhouse..I threw a few on the ground ( less than a small handful) just scattered around and I got the little critters dead the next morning.. :tongue2:

I use the usual blue slug pellets - I like coming in in the morning and seeing mush everywhere. :D

But if I'm digging out weeds, and come across any slugs (not snails), I catapult them at the greenhouse and see if they stick on the glass  - that's why I don't use snails , the shells obviously don't stick - actually slugs don't either .

Remy, you and I are of the same view - a good smack of a snail shell against a wall or road, and they don't tend to return  ::)
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...
