I planted the garlic too close and as a result they are small and yellow. I think I have three options. the first, leave them and do better next year. the second, move some plants.
the third ,leave them but put lots of fertilizer.
what shall I do?

thanks

It's getting a bit late for any action to make too much difference now, but you could try thinning them out and eating the thinnings (assuming they are big enough to eat) and bung on a bit of top dressing.

How close together are they?  Mine are about 6 inches or so apart and are doing fine.

I would suggest a good helping of fertiliser to get things moving. Perhaps some liquid feed first of all followed by a general purpose fertiliser such as fish, blood and bone or growmore. If the garlic is too close then it may be worth thinning them out but your problems seem like the result of poor soil.

what kind of fertilizer, as it needs to be quick releasing. u see scattered some grow more but that didn't work.

The yellow leaves sounds like a lack of nitrogen to me so I would look for a feed designed for leafy crops to provide a N boost. Although any multi purpose liquid feed should do the trick.

And if that doesn't help, be aware that your plants might be coming close to their life end. Most garlic will be harvest in July and your smaller ones will probably be finished in another few weeks...it's June on Monday so we're not that far away from harvest times.
