Courgettes
« on: May 26, 2009, 12:11 »
Anybody in the Derbyshire area put Courgettes outside yet? Still quite cold and very wet in the ground still.... Any comments? I only have one decent one growing in the plastic cold greenhouse and three still in the kitchen not yet sprouted, only planted them last week so got time for them to be put out in June...... Cheers in advance.... 8) Just pretending its summer by putting on sunglasses....!!! 8)

I'm in Manchester. Only sowed mine last week and all have sprouted. I was worried I was running late, but it has been really wet and the advice I had on here was that it was fine... mine will be going out in a couple of weeks, I guess.

At the risk of hijacking the thread... has anyone grown cougettes on their manure pile?

In South Derbyshire
1 was put out 2 weeks ago
another 2 last week
another 2, plus an outside cuke and a winter squash this last weekend.

All ok so far.

I will get mine out this weekend..... mine are going in some lovely rich soil enhanced with alittle light sprinkling of chicken organic pellets from my dear father in law Bjorn who swears by them and he has the biggest poly tunnel in the world.......
Would imagine, nicker of the thread that they would go well on a manure pile as long as the heap was not too rich and fresh.....
