i have just broken my fork trying to dig up rhubarb lol where my plot is they are all empty apart from 4 lotties as it has just reopened and there was some growing so tried to dig it up so i could plant it back in mine he he never knew it was so deep  ??? so now i have no fork suppose it serves me right i also dug up some garlic :blush: :nowink:

i broke mine a couple of weeks ago and bought a cheap replacement from QD and it is rubbish!! i've just asked my mum to buy me a decent one for my birthday.

shame about the rhubarb though, i'd grab the spade and try again, although saying that it is the wrong time of year to move it really

Might be a lucky break (geddit)?  Don't move the rhubarb now, wait until winter when it's dormant.

Do as Ice suggests and bring an azda or a pickax to loosen roots which are larger and tougher than you can imagine. The ax should be dug all around the plant and then used to pry it up a bit with a pry bar to help hold up the rootball as you pull.

gardening tools are soooo expensive now and not very well made un less u buy the really good ones we bought  most of our tools from a boot sale old fashioned well made  a spade fork and 2 hoes for a fiver!!!!
