hi all

we have an allotment and are now considering getting some chickens to keep at home but we would have to have them in an enclosed run as we have a lively puppy. we were thinking of getting a pair of bantams but we wondering what sort of size run/coup we would need for them? any help would be greatly appreciated also do you know of any breeders near andover in hampshire???

You would need a roof (clear plastic) on your run.  I would suggest minimum of 1-2 meter square because you want bantams. Bigger the better I would also suggest you have a minimum of 3 bantams.

We have 3 hybrid hens in an Omlet Eglu with standard run plus 1m conversion extension which makes 3m I think.  They were going to be in there all the time and I was assured they'd be fine with that much space, but that didn't last long and they're out every day now.  I imagine two bantams would be fine without the extension even.  It's a fantastic house I love it - all plastic so an absolute breeze to clean out, and totally foxproof.  The Omlet site also has a great list of breeders so sure you could find someone near you if you don't find one on the link Roughlee Handled gave you.
