Artichoke leaves on small plant, being chewed through leaf stalk as well as being left skeletal on the leaf. Is it slugs?

The second pic was brought into the house to photograph the red blisters on the leaves and developing fruit of my gooseberry, but can you spot the other nasty tiny critter?

I have my suspicions. >:(

Well, I do not know of any other mentionable pests of artichoke in the Uk than slugs.

Yes, we can spot it, good luck.

Is it sawfly? Are the red spots/blisters connected. Do you know what action  i need to take?

Try a google search for gooseberry pests... mentioned are sawflies but I am not sure that is the problem.

It mentions caterpillars as easily identifiable having distinct black spots all over light green bodies. You don't mention these..

I think there should be an answer on the internet if no one comes up with a suggestion for you.  ;)

you have there a classic case of gooseberry rust (clustercup).
it can be common in dry springs, normally showing up after rain.i dont know of any treatment for it,but if the attack is severe i would remove the plants and burn them.wide spacing of the plants is the best detterent.bob
