Leg rings
« on: May 07, 2009, 22:47 »
Hi,

I keep ex-battery hens, and as they are feathering up - there are several that I can hardly tell apart!

I thought that leg rings might be the way forward - but what diameter, and how do I measure? How much extra room should I allow for so they don't irritate (without them falling off) and flat or spiral????

The spiral bands would just be color coded whereas you can get the flat ones with numbers on them which makes record keeping easier. As far as size those that sell them sholud have a guide according to breed that they can look up. Plus with the flat ones you can use the color to identify the year you got the girls and the number to identify the ind. bird
