Saving seeds? Site specific?
« on: May 06, 2009, 00:14 »
I have been saving seed for several years now and hope they are becoming site specific. Does anyone else do this?

I've not had the chance to do this yet but some of my favourite books are by Elizabeth West (Hovel in the Hills, Garden in the Hills and A Patch in the Forest.) She and her husband lived in the wilds of N. Wales for 13 years. They seed-saved every year and discovered that the seed did indeed become site-specific, thus producing more abundantly and more healthy.

presumably you have to select seed from the plants which did the best each year...just saving any seed wouldn't help select any qualities - except not dying... :)
