i've got a packet of seeds (sorry can't remember name) for outdoor cucumbers, i tried growing cucumbers a few years ago but had them in the greenhouse with tomatoes so they weren't very successful, we did have a few but tend to just have toms in the greenhouse now.   On the seed packet is says sow straight into the ground, has anyone tried these before??  I'm gonna give it bash anyway, probably just put say 5/6 seeds in together, I presume they'll need supporting as they grow so maybe I could train them up something

follow the advice on the seed packet, that's what it's there for    yes, you will need to provide support as they climb very fast.  I grow outdoor cues up a wonky trellis against my shed but grow them in very big pots filled with growbag compost. I start mine off indoors first and plant them out when all danger of frost has passed

You can sow direct into garden soil as suggested on the packet but do take note of their sowing times    I've not done mine yet

it does say on the seed packet you can sow in the greenhouse but mine is chocka block at the moment, sow outdoors from May onwards, I know it's early May    just wondered if anyone had tried them and they were successful sown straight outside.

Mine were started in the coldgreenhouse and are now in the Square Foot Garden, I have trellis behind them all ready and waiting.

This is my second attempt as last years were doing fine, then hit a late frost killing them all.
