dust bath
« on: April 25, 2009, 17:42 »
We have just cleaned out the litter tray we use as a dust bath and refilled it with bird sand and louse powder, the girls go mad for it and spend ages in there after a couple of hours it's empty nearly is this normal or have our girls got a really bad lice problem?

No idea - all I know is that mine can dig pretty deep holes when they decide to make a dust bath - would soon empty a litter tray.

To check for lice you would have to physically pick them up and look.  The area under the vent seems to be a favourite place for them to congregate, and if bad you will see clusters of eggs attached to the feather shafts as well as lice moving around (and onto you!).
