I get quite alot of bumble bees in my garden, and they like to visit my hens. If any of my hens catch one, can they hurt my girls?

I suppose if they felt they were under threat then they could.

This post certainly suggests that bees will sting a chook but Bumbles are much more docile than honey bees so I wouldn't have thought there was too much of a risk.

I might be wrong... let's wait for one of the experts to add some comments

A honeybee landed about 18" away from a chook of mine who is a fanatic fly chaser, she fixed it with her beady eye and moved rapidly away without taking her eye off it. She`s had a go at one of them before i think.

THanks - but would the bee or wasp be dangerous for the hens to eat them?

It must be painful for them but i think the chicken can handle it ok and learn to leave them alone , sometimes the only way animals can learn is the hard way , natures way.
