What should a chitted pot look like????
« on: March 26, 2007, 23:07 »
Hi, sorry for proberly a very basic question/answer but this is my first time I'v ever experienced potatoe chitting! So I have laid them out in my seed trays (which I brought for this purpose) they are in my out-house near the window and were looking like the little roots were shooting/budding.... but now little roots/buds are looking at abit shriveled and gone from green-ish to purple-ish (they are Desire! I think) Has it all gone wrong or is there still hope?

I thank-you in advance for your help on my chitting

Doesnt matter wether you chit or not, I do all mine, mainly because i don't like leaving them in the nets or the plastic bags they come in. I find that in the nets you can knock off any chits that have formed and if left in plastic they might rot.

Thank- you all so much especially to richyrich for the photograph, that really helped, mine look abit like yours but not as healthy!

I will plant them this week-end all being well, not totally sure how much space to put between them or how deep but I will be so relived when they are in the ground as I have worried so much about them it will out of my hands then! and down to nature

Thanks again. x.
