Dont be mad at yourself hunny, these things happen. You still have one eggy so all our fingers crossed that you will have a happy ending. I know nothing about this but can you get some fake eggs to go with the one left to try and fool her?

Sam, I wish I had some support for you.  She is an absolutely lovely duck.  Maybe this is a precursor to the real thing.
When I die I will slide in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand and chocolate in the other, screaming, "Whooo hooo!  What a ride!" as life is to be enjoyed to the fullest!

I have room in my incy if you can get the egg over to me, not that far away from you.

Oh, MD, just catching up here. I am so sorry. I sobbed my heart out when my first ducklings died in shell. As Foxy said, don't beat yourself up. These things happen and it is terrible but it is not your fault.

There are Patrick babies here with your name on them if you want.
Be like a duck. Calm on the surface but always paddling like the dickens underneath.

Thankyou all for your lovely comments and kind words.  And thankyou all for your offers.

The ducks re-made their nest last night and this morning there were 2 fresh eggs being sat on.  But yet again the bl**dy ex-batts got there before me!!!! >:(

We are looking at buying a shed /house just for the ducks to seperate them all......This way the ducks can have full run of their own pen and the garden........ and the chickens will stay in their own pen then maybe there will be another chance.????

I am hoping that we can get it done in time as I really don't want to loose this moment with my girls...maybe I already have they are bound to get fed-up soon.

This has to be a lesson for all newbies (I still class myself as one!)  Don't mix chickens and ducks :(
