Have quite a lot of carrot seed left over from last year. It says on the packet that it won't keep but it seems a pity to throw it away. Should I try it anyway?

How about running a trial between two rows of carrots using last year's seed for one row and fresh seed for another?

Seems a bit strange that it says that on the packet. One of my bibles (The Vegetable & Herb Expert) says they store for 4 years. Provided they've been somewhere reasonably cool & dry, you should be OK. Even if not all come up - that's less thinning - if you do that!
