Hi All,
    My neighbour is cutting back a laurel tree and I was wondering if there would be any problem putting the the leaves on the compost heap after I have mashed them with the lawn mower?

I think that they would take years to compost down.  With regret I take mine down to the Council recycling area and let them do it!

can't you treat them like bark chippings and use as a mulch or on footpaths?  I wouldn't have thought it would take years to compost, but I wouldn't like to argue the case either

I have a lot of laurel and they never ever rot down. You will get sick of seeing them laugh at you every time you turn the compost heap, Shredded or not they survive still green for ages. I guess shredded and added to a path is as bad, also slippery if shreddings get wet. Down the tip with them all is my advice..
