When do they start to eat grit ?

we have three new girls 15-16 weeks old, they seem to eat and drink well but dont seem interested in eating any grit, is this normal at this age ?

Hi stanlmic.

What do they eat ?

ANything other than pellets or mash and they will need some grit. If they're free-ranging, they can usually pick up some as they go (depending on what they range on).

As long as you have some grit and oyster shell available at all times they'll help themselves when they want it.

You could maybe try scattering some on a tray or similar. If it's in front of them, they might take it more readily. But if they don't take it, they obviously don't need it.
