Just started with 3 girls, settling down well and was wondering would it be ok to feed rice now and again, not as a replacement for layers pellets but a bit of a treat

Cooked of corse!

Mine love rice and spagetti.  You always end up cooking too much so it never goes to waste but I don't cook it specially for them, they just get what is left.

Mine love rice, i mix it with a little cat food (tinned salmon or tuna) for protein. Now they get so excited when they see i have a pot of food. Bless them, it must seem so boring eating them pelets all day!

Make sure to only give it as a treat in the late afternoon.  Rice and pasta are very high in starch and low in fibre for chooks and contain no vitamins and not many minerals so not a very good food for them.  If you add salt to the water when you cook it then that's not good for chooks either.


It is funny watching them "kill" spaghetti though
