So many questions at the minute!
I have all of my 'sow in situ' seeds sown in my raised beds. Most have been in for a week now but no sign of anything green yet! I checked the soil yesterday (which has been covered in fleece all the time since I sowed (I'm a worrier!) and it was really quite dry. I have read that the seeds should germinate without the need for watering but what does everyone think? Should I keep the soil moist as you would in the pots indoors?

This is one of the problems with raised beds. They require far more watering than ordinary beds.

Same here, every couple of days if its dry, just remember to use a fine rose or the seeds will al get mixed up

The whole reason I have raised beds is to improve the drainage.  Having to water more is a bit of a result here on my clay soil.

I watered mine in between the rows so as to not wash the seeds out of the ground, as I only have an old can with no rose to use... done the trick as everything is coming up now. You're right -- seeds need moisture to grow and won't if the soil is bone dry.
