No sign of radish
« on: March 17, 2009, 17:42 »
I planted some radish about 9 days ago in the raised bed but there is no sign of growth yet despite them apparently being fast germinaters. Is it too cold ? The guide did say to plant outside in March.

I'd give them a few more days before worrying, radishes are pretty reliable, unless you have old or duff seed. Remember, a watched radish never sprouts.  ;)

Hi

I too was keen to get started and planted radish and spring onion outside at the beginning of March (not grown before) and it has taken them a while to get going (in a bit of shade too) but looking yesterday they are coming up ok now.

I would give it a few more days before re-sowing, taken mine around 17 days as a bit cold.

I am sure they will come up, raised beds are a good idea, we being myself and victoria plum planted them in the ground last year, and they were eaten by slugs :(

I always find them really really slow this time of year, come mid June if planted probably will only take 4 weeks or more for a decent size.  Find the packets a bit optomistic when it comes to radish, as I never find them to be that quick..........maybe its my soil.
