This is dead easy to make, and good for 1/2 term, you will need:-

3/4 pint cold tea  (save any left over during the day, not with milk in !)

7 oz soft brown sugar
12 oz mixed dried fruit
10 oz self raising flour
1 egg

Put tea, sugar and dried fruit in a bowl, cover and leave to soak overnight.
Next day, well grease a 2lb loaf tin or an 8 inch round cake tin.
Add the egg to the tea mixture, and stir into the flour to make a smooth mixture.
Turn into the tin and bake in a moderate oven for about 1hr 45mins. (350f; gas 4)
Turn out and cool.

Enjoy.  Mrs Bouquet

Well-Toasted (not-quite-charcoal) brack on a freezing cold November's night with melted butter and a mug of tea by the fire.

Very hard to beat...!

Thanks for that!

Used to have tea pot on permanent stand by, got pregnant 25 years ago and couldn't stand the stuff.  Still can't. (can we have a strangle type emoticon please?)
