I havn't grown spuds in my raised beds but I don't think it matters.  Spacings in beds are equal and closer together.

agree with Ice, but you still need enough room around each plant to earth up. I don't think you would get more than 2 x 12ft rows?? ???

2 rows along the bed will be easier to manage. Rather than two 24 inch rows I would be tempted to plant them in two rows 20 inches apart with 14 inches each side. This will make earthing up a lot easier.

If you are planting more than one variety start from one end with the earliest, planting in both rows as you go. This will mean that as you lift the bed will be clear to plant salads or other crops.

Mumoftig I guess you get more when put in a bed but when in a pot they are quite close together.

I would space all these varieties at 12 inches so you will have room for 24 plants in the bed.

Could i do that ....thought that would make them too close together and reduce the yield? ???

Thank you!  :) :) :)

I wouldn't be able to make up my mind and do some of each then regret it as wouldn't which is which even with labels as they get dislodged or in containers compost chucked over them.

Am I right in thinking Red duke of york first early others second earlies, will that help your decision.  Or how about which ones are ideal for container growing.  Dunno.but interested to see what your decision will be and why.

Right red duke of york first earlies, charlotte salad, 2nd early, vivaldi also 2nd early but i read that you can leave em in longer(if no blight) for baking pots.
If i hadn't got the free ones it would have been no prob....if i leave em in the ground won't be able to put squash in after.............so i might have to do those ones in the buckets. could put squash in buckets but would trail everywhere o i dunno......got a while to ponder on it. :D  i think i've got a headache now not much good with three dimensional chess
