I bought 30 asparagus crowns the other day (they were a real barguin) and although I have keep them in a cool place they are already growing madly and threatening to split the bags. I think its too cold and wet to plant them yet, any ideas of how I can keep them till its warmer?

Whilst it's cool to you, it's possibly warm to them.

I could be wrong here, but I'd be inclined to get them in to slow them down.

are they likely to be damaged by frost?

Frost is something they get every year! May damage any  spears that are forming, as it's way too early for them, but the crowns themselves should be OK, after all, you don't dig them up every autumn to molly coddle them!
