Wow I never knew...
« on: January 28, 2009, 12:29 »
I just bought one of those soil ph testers and checked the plot where I usually grow my cabbages ect and the soil is really acidic!!! I double checked the tester thingy cos it was only a cheap one by putting it in the container pots (slightly Alkali) and several other spots. My soil is really clay, although this area is better as I have been working it for a couple of years now. What should I do? I dont have masses of land and I need to use it this year.

I all ready added agricultural lime to my shopping list. But if it is this acidic should I add maximum dosage, how long then will I need to leave it before planting and how will it effect how I fertilise the soil (ie, what will be the most appropriate soil conditioner to use after heavey liming)
