So the scheme is simple - we have returned seed packs from outlets where the packs are dog eared or faded, but the seeds are fine. We'll send 7 packs of these seeds, a catalogue and a sowing manual (all subject to availability) to a school of your choosing, one pack per school. We may add other items to the pack if we can. The catalogue contains recipes from celebrity chefs to inspire - veg growing is cool with Franchi Seeds of Italy !!
We've decided to charge a small price for this just to cover the P&P.
Our Seeds for Schools scheme isn't a marketing ploy - we have a large box of seeds and your childs school just needs a small area - 3sqm would be perfect but less or even pots and containers would suffice. The benefits and longterm effects could be very positive and it's clear that our environment needs all the help we can give it.

Haven't been on for an age so didn't see this post before! I've been 'persuaded' to run the garden at my secondary school - we're running this in partnership with Food for Life and GardenOrganic.  They may be able to give you a hand with advice and start up costs - we got £500!

Dont forget to ask the builders for old scaffold planks for raised beds or scaffold netting for covering your brassicas.

A good place to ask for tools etc is Freecycle...i got a fantastic stainless steel rake this weekend.

I used to work for an organisation that helps vulnerable people living independently in the community. One of our 'clients' wanted to start growing their own vegetables and Suttons Seeds very kindly donated dozens and dozens of packets of seeds to help out, for a couple of years. Very generous of them i thought.  It might be worth while contacting them to see if they'd be interested in helping out.

Thank you all you wonderful people.Its nice to know that so many other people are doing this sort of thing too and are willing to pass on all the things they have learned.I will contact as many of these organizations as i possibly can and see what we can get.I will let you know how we get on.
