Wooo. The experiment begins in earnest  :)

Not sure who's mooning and who's not for control purposes. If all or most of the lunar garlic beats the non-lunar, I suppose it's 1-0 in the game.

But has it gone too soon ?? Will the non-lunar catch up ?? Will it keep away vampires ?? Or werewolves ???

Has anyone done a control sample? Not really an experiment if not!

If it helps I planted mine sometime in October.

Or was it September - maybe, November.

It's been up since precisely errrrrr - quite a while. :D
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

My kids and grandkids (great grandchild too young to form an opinion yet) all consider me to be totally loony already.  Organic gardening, chatting to plants, falling through greenhouses (but that's another story) and many another foible .  They'd probably have me committed if I took to planting seeds by moonlight.
Seriously though - does it work and, if it does, why?
I realise I'm opening a can of worms- or possibly moonbeams - here!

This has been discussed at length several times. It can get heated and I think it best not to get into another full-blown discussion on it.

May I suggest you do a search on "Lunar Planting" and have a read of what has already been posted.

But what was that about 'falling through greenhouses'?

You have to tell ..... ::)

We lived in a house where the garden was very (and I do mean very) steep and terraced.  The greenhouse was perched rather precariously on one level with a bit of a drop on one side.  Our grandson, a keen gardener, was staying with us and decided that said greenhouse needed a good clean up.  This was about ten years ago and he was 15 at the time.  'OK' said I 'but you must be really careful, in fact I'll come with you and we'll do it together'.   You can see the thinking - t eenage boy full of energy - bound to be clumsy - better keep an eye on him!  All went swimmingly - well there was a lot of water anyway - until I thought I would grub up some old plants from the border.  Heave-ho, give them a good tug and whoops Grandma backwards through the glass.  Only the glazing bars and my substantial derriere prevented me from going 8ft down to the next level.  Cuts and bruises and very dented pride.  Needless to say the tale did the rounds of the family and I have NEVER been allowed to forget it - and that was before I fell in the pond (don't ask)

I am doing moon trials - on my blog the info will unfold. I do non-moon and moon samples and for the Garlic have planted out 25 moons and 25 non moons, weighed the original cloves and will weight each as they come out - all will have the same number of cycles as they went in between sept and Jan.

My tom trial resulted in 10% increase in crop on plants that made it to harvest, and 46% increase in crop on seeds sown [as they all germinated but not all made it to grow any actual toms].

I'm undecided but do try to do things on the right day if i can.

Well done zazen. I like a well-ordered trial. I am completely rational and scientific and, without any logical reasoning, I can only see it as coincidence but I also know that I don't know it all.
SO keep on with the trials and the findings will speak for themselves.

That sounds just like the sort of thing I would do - and aren't families good at rubbing it in!  At least they didnt take pictures before pulling you out and dusting down!
