tagete's or marigolds are great  use minuea and mix with french marigold and let em fully develop seed heads later in the year  use these seeds to propagate new plants next year . any tags will do they all smell yuck, for bigger barriers around the carrots on block use african marigolds
still alive /............

well perhaps doing 2 yrs at horticultural college in wallingford  oxfordshire may have some bearing on it , plus a lot of reading and being nosey listening to others etc .also if ya want to use the internet like this site for help and advice , companion planting was used  years ago by my mom anyways lol she used to grow our own food stuffs n she needed to make a good crop out of neccesity , we had times when we did go hungry i can tell ya..

forgot to say , the guys who ya listening to is probably using the same things from the last century and times have changed so try things out for ya self . planting peas in a row 2 inch aprt isd not the way now but the seed sel;ers still put it on the packets .. peas are sown ina shallow trench a foot wide to aid them standing upright  in the farmers fields they are put in the same rows but an inch to a plant if they are lucky with no support , note if you se a farmer sowing peas  ask to pick up the gleanings /they are pink coated but great , when a farmer loads a hopper some falls and believe it or not i collected 2 carrier bags of these and 4 days later shot over 300 pigeons of the field ,the pink washes off and the pigeon mas. sow the peas as i suggest and i promise you a lot more peas than the single row job . look at the pictures of my plot for how to support them in the rows around the outside
