1:  You can give their energy levels a real boost by feeding them marmite on toast (or bread). Marmite is packed full of B-Vitamins and is good for chickens and humans alike. A slice on the first day for your two hens will keep the vet away. You can keep feeding them this as a routine, about once a week.

i may just give this a try as i now have 2 sick girls with bubbly eyes an sneezing cant have all of them ill again .

I'd be worried about the salt levels but I dare say the chooks probably know how much of whatever that they can eat safely. I've got some multivit for pooultry if I think they need a pickup. I got some when I thought one of them might need some but they improved before I could sort out a container to give it to her in.
I demand the right to buy seed of varieties that are not "distinct, uniform and stable".

B vits are very good for them but the salt is definitly BAD.  Marmite has even been taken off of the school breakfast list as too high in salt for children  :(

The Omlet site does recommend Marmite for chooks but only in tiny amounts, eg crumbs of it given to chooks as a pick me up, eg when you first get them, etc

I like Marmite on toast so I make a slice for me and they get tiny crumbs of mine. They love it  :D

Brewers yeast tablets are a far better bet. Thats one of my secret supplements that I use when getting birds ready for a show. I might be wrong, but i thinks its vitamin B that they contain.

Here you go, if you break them in half, a bottle will last for ages.

As Bodger says, brewers yeast tablets contain lots of Vit B's and less salt than marmite.

Still won't be putting them on my toast though! Bit of salt is essential for life and not sure it would be worth going on without marmite
