I have those things all over my indoor plants - orchids, figs and avocado from seed, spider plants, etc.  The flies are getting embarrassing - I noticed a friend waving one away from her face last week during morning tea!  May have to get a bug gun.  Is it overwatering, underwatering?... ah, maybe it's the fruit stones actually.  Just realised.
