So, after the manure herbicide scare who is going to use manure this year?

It is hard enough getting decent poo around here let alone being sure of its origin.

Should i take the risk?
Or should i use some cheap B&Q compost and pelleted chicken manure?

If you know where its come from and know the history then the real stuff is probably cheaper and also will act as a soil improver.  I prefer the real thing.  just had a trailer load dropped off today ready to sit for another year before it goes on the plot.  it was growing weeds so am guessing its not got loads of weed killer in it!

Actually both, but as I only have 3 hens there will be much more of the horse variety on the plot. The stuff I get has weeds growing on it and is reputed to be years old so I hope it will be OK. It is free too!

This is our first year with a plot so we are still experimenting to see what works best for us.

We have 2 buckets of chuck poo pellets which one of our fellow plot holders got for us cheap and we will be feeding a few beds with these and my nephew's girlfriend has horses so we are off to collect some muck at the weekend which will be free and trying that on the rest.
Iv' been put off using cow muck because of all the recent problems with it,the guy who delivers it to our site say's he doesn't use any pesticides but seeing has I don't know the bloke I'm still not convinced.

I thought that the issue was not cow vs horse manure for safety, but whether the grass used for grazing, silage or feed had been treated with the pesticide, irrespective of animal?
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Yep thats the way I understand it too but we know for sure where my nephews girlfriends horses have been grazing so know it's safe.
