not done any in the way of planting, but theres a border in front of the fence to an old ladies house opposite my lads school. Ive never seen the old lady, and the kids have vandalised the fence, but theres small rose bushes in this border next to the path, so when i walk past i dead head them :D

i guess this might count

I think dandelions and quite a lot of the like that grow on such ground, without doing much about it are actually pretty.

It's the rubbish that would need tidying...

Somebody told me about a council that's planting herbs in their raised flower bed. The idea is that the public will maintain them by picking a few as they go by!
Perhaps we should replace ornamental trees and flower beds in parks with fruit trees and beds of strawberries or cut and come again salad.

i WOULD advocate guerrilla gardening especially native flowers and fruit, in some places i'd see vegetables as a bit out of place but not all. i can't see why it would be illegal to prettify a derelict site, and lets face it a lot of council-planted areas are soon blighted by litter so why allow the crisp packet space that could be filled with something green.

also, councils have far too little money or time or inclination in these respects so you'd be helping out; it's your land too.
