Banana shallots

I would like to grow 'banana' shallots next year. Most sets I see in shops are  the small round varieties -- not the longer vars which is what I'm after.

Can anyone suggest a good supplier for 'banana' shallots?

What vars do you recommend?

Has anyone tried growing from supermarket shallots (eg French echelion shallots)?

 :D  me.

The plants grow bigger than your average shallot, and from just 2 experimental bulbs, got about 10 decent ones in return.  Downside, they sent up a lot of flower heads so although had a good harvest, they would not store well

these are the big, huge ones that I was thinking of

Rowswells Farm
To buy a packet of 20 Barrington Banana Shallot seeds send a cheque for £5.00 made payable to John Rowswell and a stamped, self addressed envelope to: John Rowswell Baker's Farm Barrington Nr Ilminster Somerset TA12 0JB

I grew the usual french longue type 'Jermor' and they are lovely. I think the above ones are said to be the true banana shallot though
