anyone not got a pop hole which shuts?  PLanning to build our own coop and was wondering whether we could leave the pop as an opening so hens can come and go as please especially when is winter and getting home from work later. Any ideas and comments anyone?

In my opinion you really need to have a door that shuts.
If not you could end up with Rats going in there  :evil: (horrid things )

Might it be possible to get a automatic opening door on a timer to open at set times  :?
I know there are such things available, there is some info on here somewhere I'll try & find it

hi davepitch, I use automatc door openers on all my big henhouses and have done for nearly 3 years without any probs, very reliable and have never broken down, the batteries seem to last about 2 years. They also make it easy for neighbours to help out as they dont have to get up at the crack of dawn ad worry about coming home in time to safely put them away.
Wouldn't personally leave a henhouse without a pophole too much of a risk not just for foxes but rats and mice getting in.
