I jump in late, as usual!

Jake's on Welshmans Lane with the posh people of Nantwich, Don't ya know :)

Em, if you're going for a plot on Ford Lane, it's improved no end since the Wests became the reps - I've a lot of time for them.  Most plot holders will happily give advise but  as I've said (often) before - 3 gardeners will give you 4 opinions on any subject!

Do try to pop along to the NVS meetings. Our next one is at the Chairman's in Middlewich but you'd be welcome to a lift if you've transport probs. Just PM me. It's on Tuesday 13th March around 7.30pm

Charliesmum - we have members from Leek so Stoke isn't too far either!

Incidentally - read my diary for details on buying loads of compost cheap.
Check out our books - ideal presents

Thanks for all the advice, cant wait to have a look at the available plots

Any tips on choosing a plot?
What basics do we need? Is there a list somewhere?
Which book would you go for if you could only have 1? I like the look of Allotment Gardening by Susan Berger.

I need it to be simple as I am not a natural gardener.

Charliesmum - Do you go on MSE?
John - Would love to come but will be working.
Em x
Already got names for my chooks but dont tell "Tom"

This thread might be useful.

Oh and get your agreement in writing.... (after another recent thread... !)

Good luck with choosing.

Well we had a family outing and all went to meet Nikki and Gary, and we got our plot. Yay.

Right next to 2 taps so no lugging water for miles.

kids wanted to dig straight away and now want chickens after seeing Nikkis.

Cant wait to get started now and we are even considering getting the adjoining plot just in case we need it in the future, and the kids can always play on it while we sort this plot out.

dont condider geting the next door plot do it . if you want chucks you can put the runs on that plot while your geting the first up and running . make the runs easy to move around so you can change the ground after each year and stop it becoming bared off by the chicken houses . nad its fe manure ,gren house on that plot as well in the futur you have then a plot free from anything and a complete run from end to end .
still alive /............
